The Band Begins
Kanybl Kaow was born on the 23rd of April 2004. We are four sisters living in Montague California, and we have been dreaming of becoming a band from the time we were old enough to talk. We were sitting around, the day we first started playing on the equipment, and considering names for the band, such as The Voodoo Freezer Monkeys when the news came on, which said that farmers were feeding their cattle ground up cow parts, and Rain said Oh my gosh, cannibal cows, or something along those lines, and we all started laughing about it, then Silvermoon said thats what we should call our band, and so we (wanting to be different) spelled it Kanybl Kaow {with a backwards K on Kaow}.
Having had no lessons and not knowing anything about how to play, we set out on a journey in an attempt to express who we are with music, or a reasonable facsimile.
Our father had just recently purchased a set of drums, two guitars (one a Les Paul) with amps, a bass guitar with amp, and a PA system; his intent was to teach people how to play music, while making a little money in the process.However, he did not count on our tenacity in wanting to be a band.
April 23rd 2004, Rain and Snow asked our father if we could play around with the equipment; he said we could if we were careful not to break anything. Within an hour we had determined who was to be on which instrument. Before the day was gone, we had actually begun writing a song which we later called DARKSIDE. The reason for writing this song was because all the boys kept telling us we couldn’t do anything because we were girls. That first day we had somehow acquired a group of some sixteen (16) people which were in front of the garage cheering us on.
We finished writing Song… 1 DARKSIDE ©April 30, 2004, after playing for only one week.
Although we have our main instruments we all play the Guitar, the Bass, the Drums, and Sing.
